Aaaah Summer!

40 years ago, when we lived in California, we had what we called “sesh’s”.

Steaks, salad, corn on the cob, bread, and of course, California Coolers. Dessert was usually strawberry shortcake or ice cream.

Even way back then we made functional pottery. Dinner plates, platters, bowls, and mugs. The glaze designs were more intricate, wax resist, carved flowers filled with iron or cobalt oxide. Over the years we have changed, evolved, simplified, and ultimately scaled back our operations. If, over the last 12 years we have completed over 10,000 orders, then we can’t even guess how many pieces of pottery we have made in our lifetime. We only own a few pieces from those early days.

And now we lived in the Pacific Northwest for 30 years and we still have sesh’s. Sometimes with friends and family, sometimes just the two of us. We have learned to pull beautiful pieces into the house from the studio so we can enjoy them. Last night we served corn on the cob on our rectangle tray with butter from our lidded butter dish. We barbecue year-round, just like we always have, sometimes we have to wear puffy jackets and shine a work light on the BBQ, but a sesh is always worth it!

Love, Peace, and good vibes,

Barry & Terri
