Every season I say, “This is my favorite”.

Coming Home to Autumn

Last month, we traveled to Macedonia to reconnect with our exchange student from 2005. We returned home to autumn in the Pacific Northwest: the trees were just beginning to turn, the air was crisp, and the nights were cooler. Now there’s snow on the mountains and a fire in the woodstove.

Seasonal Comforts in the Kitchen

The change in seasons brings more home-cooked meals, freshly baked breads, and a variety of pumpkin cookies. I had to make two batches of pumpkin snickerdoodles because the dog ate the first batch off the counter! We always serve our breads with butter from our butter dish.

My favorite piece of pottery right now is our pasta bowl—it’s perfect for baking a casserole or an apple crisp. Our nesting set is doing double duty, too, for both prepping and serving.

Thanksgiving, Our Way

For over 30 years, Barry and I were on the road selling, so we’ve learned to be flexible about the date we celebrate Thanksgiving. We still set aside a day to enjoy all our “traditional” foods. Nothing fancy—our youngest daughter prefers Stove Top—and everything is quick to make, because time together matters most. We also understand how meaningful customs can be and why people want to keep them alive.

We hope your November—and every day—is filled with moments that become memories, remind you of what you’re grateful for, and bring you joy.

We’re grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past 46 years and continue to make it possible to earn our living making pottery.

Happy Holidays from Barry & Terri Crutchfield
